OBS.:
De acordo com uma tradição amplamente repetida, mas não justifica, "between” é utilizado para dois e “among” para mais de dois." É verdade que “between” é a única opção quando são especificadas exatamente duas entidades. Quando mais de duas entidades estão envolvidas, no entanto, ou quando o número de entidades não é especificado, a escolha de uma ou outra palavra depende o sentido pretendido. “Between” é usado quando as entidades são consideradas como indivíduos distintos; “among”, quando eles são considerados como uma massa ou colectividade. Sue, Paul and Ted are talking about the sorts of places that they like for their holidays.

PAUL: Well, I like swimming, so I like a place that's on the sea, or on a lake or on a river. Of course, if the weather's cold, I don't swim in the sea or the lake, but I like being near water. TED: Well, I like a quiet holiday. I don't like a place that's on a busy road.

  • “at” Easter/ Eid (= festividades ou períodos religiosos)
